Employee Volunteering Program

Merck is striving to be a truly caring company, dedicating quite some effort to CSR activities, to contribute positively to the Thai society. One of their programs is called the Employee Volunteering Program. Merck's employee can propose social activities themselves and if they match with the companies policy they will be conducted. This leads to a high engagement and identification among the employees and is really a great thing. Not only because they help people in need, but because it is always a shared emotional experience for the staff who join. Usually Merck also invites their customers to join the activities and contribute themselves. This time we went to a school for underprivileged children in the province of Ayuthaya, just 2 hrs away from Bangkok. All in all 100 people, customers and employees, came together to renovate old and broken parts of this poor school, such as the kitchen, the basketball court and the school's vegetable garden.
It was hot, hard work and I screwed up my clothes... but yeah, it was really worth it.
